This picture was taken at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.
While I mostly take engagement pictures during the day, I will also photograph into the evening. It can add some nice variety to the engagement session photography.
The bride and groom-to-be, Victoria and Dan, were happy to stick around into the evening to have some more pictures done. These lanterns at Longwood Gardens were illuminated shortly after sunset and I thought they had a nice look to them. Also the door and archway had a nice framing element to compose Victoria and Dan in.
To create the light in this photograph, I exposed my camera for the ambiance and used a flash behind the couple and to camera right. It created a rim light to separate them from the background. It also add to the mood of the scene.
