This picture was taken in my studio in midtown New York City.
If there is one thing I have learned about photographing dogs or people, it's to always be ready for anything. This beloved King Charles Spaniel named Tikka, who happens to be my daughter, gave me a little wink. I'm so glad that I captured it because it really shows off her playful personality.
Any time that I am taking portraits of a dog, I want to express who they are. I find this out by speaking to their owner and we work on a vision for the photo shoot. I never want to create any generic pictures of dogs that are all the same on the same backdrop. I want every dog to have their own unique pictures wether that be in my studio or on location in a place like Bethesda Terrace in Central Park.
