This picture was taken at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem in Bethlehem, PA.
I take a variety of pictures on the wedding day which include individual portraits of the bride/s, individual portraits of the groom/s, portraits of the couple together, portraits of the wedding party, and portraits of the family. In this particular image, the bride Elizabeth, is being photographed individually.
Elizabeth mentioned that she loved the marble staircase at Hotel Bethlehem. It is definitely one of the most popular places to take pictures at the historic hotel. I was going for more of a dramatic and ethereal look for this portrait so I lit her from behind. That created a beautiful rim light around her and illuminated her veil. Elizabeth is a dancer and I asked her to move her left arm a bit while holding the veil. You can see the delicate touch she has and I think that adds to the story behind the image.
