I shot this picture in the Speakeasy. It is on the lowest floor of the venue and it has a great dimly lit mood to it. I exposed for the ambience in the room and then added just a touch of light behind them.
One of the biggest difficulties in photographing at Vault 634 is how low the light is throughout the venue. This is especially true in the Speakeasy. It's my job as a photographer to always make sure that there is flattering light on my couples all the while keeping the "feel" of the venue. If I used too much light everywhere with my flash, you would lose the romance that the venue has to offer. It's all about knowing how to balance all of my lighting and just adding soft touches of light where needed.
