The getting ready pictures on the wedding day can have a lot of emotions to them. It's the beginning of the day and there's a lot of anticipation for the events to come. I find it's one of the times for the bride/s and/or grooms/s to let their family and friends know how much they mean to them.
In this picture the bride, Vicky, had just given her mother a hand-written letter. While I do not know what she specifically wrote to her mother, it's quite obviously that it was very meaningful. Her mother became overwhelmed with emotions and Vicky lifted her hand to show her support.
As a wedding photographer, it's a big part of my job to know when NOT to talk while taking pictures. This was one of those times. I'm not going to ask them to smile at the camera during such a beautiful moment like this. That would have ruined this beautiful connection between the two of them.
