The father daughter dance is one of the most beautiful moments for a bride on her wedding day. It's a very special time during the reception that the bride and her father get to share with each other.
In this picture, the bride Maria was dancing with her father. Her father was so happy for his daughter and you can see that beautiful expression on his face.They both have their cheeks pushed up against each other as they are hand in hand dancing. The body language here says so much and you can really feel the love between them. I'm glad that I was able to capture that through this picture.
Whenever I am photographing moments like this on the wedding day, I make a point of being non-intrusive. I want to capture this without posing or prompting. I could never imagine asking Maria and her father to "smile at the camera" during such a special dance because that would interrupt this moment. I certainly do take family portraits and everyone is smiling at the camera but that is for a different part of the wedding day photography.
