The father daughter dance is one of the traditional events at wedding receptions. In addition to the couple's first dance and the other parents dances, it makes for some really beautiful moments.
In this picture, the bride Sarah, was just finishing her dance with her father. After the dance was over Sarah went back in to give her dad a big hug and that's when I captured this moment.
Part of my job as a wedding photographer is to photograph the candid or photojournalist pictures during the day. What I have learned over the years is to "shoot through the moment" meaning, just because you think the moment is over doesn't mean it actually is. Some people might have thought the father daughter dance was done but I kept my camera up to my eye ready for anything else that would happen. Sarah went back in for a big hug with her father and that was a moment not to be missed.
